Quantum mechanics using two auxiliary inner products

چکیده
The current applications of non-Hermitian but ${\cal PT}-$symmetric Hamiltonians $H$ cover several, mutually not too closely connected subdomains quantum physics. Mathematically, the split between open and closed systems can be characterized by respective triviality non-triviality an auxiliary inner-product metric $\Theta=\Theta(H)$. With our attention restricted to latter, mathematically more interesting unitary-evolution case we show that intuitive technically decisive simplification theory achieved via "additional" PCT}-$symmetry constraint upon given a deeper mathematical meaning introduction certain second inner product.

Auxiliary nRules of Quantum Mechanics
Standard quantum mechanics makes use of four auxiliary rules that allow the Schrödinger solutions to be related to laboratory experience – such as the Born rule that connects square modulus to probability. These rules (here called the sRules) lead to some unacceptable results. They do not allow the primary observer to be part of the system. They do not allow individual observations (as opposed ...
متن کاملTwo Dogmas About Quantum Mechanics
We argue that the intractable part of the measurement problem—the ‘big’ measurement problem—is a pseudo-problem that depends for its legitimacy on the acceptance of two dogmas. The first dogma is John Bell’s assertion that measurement should never be introduced as a primitive process in a fundamental mechanical theory like classical or quantum mechanics, but should always be open to a complete ...
متن کاملDissipative quantum mechanics using GENERIC
Pure quantum mechanics can be formulated as a Hamiltonian system in terms of the density matrix. Dissipative effects are modeled via coupling to a macroscopic system, where the coupling operators act via commutators. Following Öttinger (2010) we use the GENERIC framework (General Equations for Non-Equilibrium Reversible Irreversible Coupling) to construct thermodynamically consistent evolution ...
متن کاملQuantum mechanics from two physical postulates
Abstract For an arbitrary preparation, quantum mechanical descriptions refer to the complementary contexts set by incompatible measurements. We argue that an arbitrary preparation, therefore, should be described with respect to such a context by its degrees of disturbance (represented by real numbers) and their probability distribution (postulate 1). Measurement contexts thus provide reference ...
متن کاملFrame transforms , star products and quantum mechanics on phase space
Using the notions of frame transform and of square integrable projective representation of a locally compact group G, we introduce a class of isometries (tight frame transforms) from the space of Hilbert-Schmidt operators in the carrier Hilbert space of the representation into the space of square integrable functions on the direct product group G × G. These transforms have remarkable properties...
